As a beauty editor, I see many brands launching all of the time. With a number of celebrity beauty lines cropping up and skincare lines popping up on what seems like almost every other day, it’s easy to feel a bit jaded by new products that look . One category that I see fewer launches about, however, is nails.
Within the nail category, you tend to have the nail polish heavyweights that have dominated the market for years. Think high street nail brands such as Essie or Barry M, and professional brands that you may find in your local salon, such as OPI and CND. The there are the luxury nails brands such as Chanel, Hermes and Dior that are used by some of the top nail technicians on Instagram. However, there aren’t many new nail brands launching, or bringing something new or unique to the nail market. That’s where Manucurist has come in.
Manucurist is a French brand that has gained a loyal following of fans. It has created a range of vegan and cruelty-free nail formulas that feature up to 84% bio-sourced ingredients, making them kind to nails and the environment. Perhaps what is most impressive, however, is that they offer polish colours in both gel formulations and standard nail polish. And with over 60 shades to choose from (and 50 in the gel formulation) you’re bound to find a new nail colour that you love, or more of the niche nail colours that are trending right now.
Manicurist has created its own at-home gel kit, so you can still achieve long-lasting nails at home. Manicurist state that its gels can last up to 10 days, and the best part is that it can be removed easily with nail polish, making the removal process much kinder to your nails. Who What Wear shopping editor Remy Farrell put it to the test… “I’m the kind of person who always manages to mess up their nails (smudgy at-home manicures are my forté), so I always rely on salons for long-wearing gel manicures that are applied to last. Given the expensive upkeep of regular appointments, I’d been looking for a way to do as much as possible from home, but the filing, soaking, and scraping required for at-home removal kits left my nails in a worse state than when I started. But then I tried the Mancurist Green Flash kit. I’m not overly effusive when it comes to trialling beauty products, something has to be really impressive for me to be excited enough to recommend it to anyone else, but I have not stopped talking about just how quick and easy the polish is to apply (and to remove). By day three, I’d forgotten that I’d done my own nails, so good is the gel longevity, but the most exciting part really is the removal. Expecting a lengthy soak off, I was surprised by just how quickly and easily the polish swipes off, leaving behind a scratch-free, glossy nail that still looked healthy.”
