I Have a Hunch This Will Be the Most Popular Dress Trend This Winter

One thing that most of us are prioritising when it comes to clothes in 2020 is comfort. No one knows what exactly winter has in store for us, but I have a hunch that knitted dresses are going to be the leading dress trend—particularly as many offices continue to extend working from home orders until the end of the year. Parisian designer Jacquemus made jumper dresses popular several years ago with its roll-neck maxis with thigh-high slits, and this season, formfitting knitted dresses are more popular than ever.

“The second most prevalent trend for autumn/winter 2020 was the focus on the female form, which saw the return of the bodycon dress,” Elizabeth von der Goltz, global buying director at Net-a-Porter told Who What Wear. “However, today’s version of body-con is more elegant.” Many designers used knitwear for their reimagined bodycon, such as Jil Sander and Proenza Schouler. Knitted dresses have already been popular over the summer months with the Instagram crowd—a clear indication that this dress trend is quickly gaining momentum.
