I Just Tried Me+Em's Best Winter Pieces—These 12 Were Too Good Not to Share

Me+Em has long been one of those insider brands fashion people head to for excellent quality staples that could easily pass for designer. From knits that don’t age, to the perfect pair of trousers. It may be a little more expensive than your average high street label (thanks to the premium quality), but it’s also much more reasonable than luxury labels doing similar designs; and so the brand is always one I personally recommend. Especially when my friends and styling clients are looking for elevated pieces to bolster their capsule wardrobes and wear everyday.

In my opinion Me+Em does winter best, with beautiful quality outerwear, functional knits and clever layering pieces that are all classic, with just enough design-led details to make them look really premium. Sometimes with a lesser-known brand, though, it can be hard to know what the pieces look and feel like in real life, especially if you live outside of London and aren’t able to get to a store. So, just as we head into the cold season, I thought I’d pop in on my lunch break and try Me+Em’s best new winter pieces to review and report back.

I wasn’t disappointed—in fact I’d go so far as to say I was really impressed. Especially with the denim which I’d never tried before. There were also some chic boucle jackets, and cosy knitted co-ords that wouldn’t look out of place in a designer store, as well as party-ready pieces that still managed to feel really chic. My overriding takeaway, was that the quality is definitely worth that little bit more investment. The fabrics feel really luxurious, which means that even the basics can elevate a wardrobe instantly.

In my opinion a bouclé jacket always makes an outfit look polished, and this one is no different. I loved the really rich red colour which pairs perfectly with darker denim (a favourite of mine right now. These wide-leg flares also fit beautifully. I’m 5’2″ and wearing the longer length so that they hit the floor, but if you prefer a shorter length opt for a regular (and take a size up).

If you have to do partywear this year, a velvet suit is the hero piece to invest in. I would also totally wear this pink number come January, either to work or winter weddings. It’s show-stopping, but incredibly comfortable. What’s not to love.

I’ve seen so many influencers in the (sold out) cream version of this co-ord recently so I had to try it for myself. And yep, I totally get it. It was sooo cosy and comfy, yet the co-ordination makes it feel pulled-together and polished—ideal for work or weekend activities.

Knits are by far and away Me+Em’s strong suit. I love that most of them come with a detachable roll neck, so you can choose how you wear it. If I could live in this gorgeous cream knit all winter I would, and it pairs perfectly with these grey wide-leg trousers for an influencer-approved minimalistic look.

Although not my usual style (I’m a minimalist at heart), I had to try one of Me+Em’s famous silky blouses and the arm details on this style were calling to me. I can’t find this black velvet tank top online yet, but even without the extra layer, this would make a gorgeous ‘nice top’ to wear with jeans, or underneath tailoring.

You should know that I barely wear colour, but when I saw this kermit-green jumper on a hanger in store I was immediately drawn to it. I think it’s such a unique alternative to wearing beige or grey in winter, and it looked particularly chic with these wide blue jeans and a leather blazer (keep scrolling…).

Possibly my favourite piece from the whole collection, this leather blazer is buttery soft and completely timeless. I’m actually trying on a size 14 here (I’m usually an 8-10 on top), which I think gives it a looser, cooler fit.

If you’re in the market for a super-warm winter coat you’ll pull out year after year—may I point you in the direction of this gorgeous khaki green bouclé number. It slipped over tailoring easily if you’re needing it to wear to the office, but I would probably style it most with straight-leg jeans and some chunky ankle boots.

For a more lightweight coat that doesn’t feel too bulky,, this smart black swing coat ticked all my boxes.
