Every so often, I go down a rabbit hole of extensive searching for the perfect fall-winter coats, and it reminds me how particular I am about shopping for outerwear. This year, at the top of my wish list is one of my favorite brands Rue Sophie, which I’ve written about before.
Launched out of Los Angeles in 2024 by cofounder and creative director Sabina Vilusic, originally from Croatia, the label makes hand-crafted coats and jackets, among other enduring staples. If you’re a fan of The Row, you may have seen the videos on TikTok that share alternate ways to shop a similar aesthetic for various budgets, which is how I originally discovered the line, whose prices tend to range from $88 to $800.
Everything they make is minimalist yet elevated, with chic silhouettes and distinctive details made of premium materials that are easy to wear and timeless. After getting their Provenance Oversized Jacket last April, I’ve been wearing it ever since. (In the spring and early fall, I love wearing it with a boatneck top and capris and ballet flats or kitten heel sandals.)
Now, I’m shopping for a heavier weight piece as the weather gets colder in New York, such as its Astoria Collarless Double Faced Coat. The product description reads: “A handmade collarless midi coat in premium double-faced wool-cashmere, combining clean structure with enveloping warmth.” The Kole Handmade Scarf Coat is next on my wish list. Ahead, shop these and more by Rue Sophie for Fall/Winter 2026.
