I'm a Fashion Editor—Here's What's On My NET-A-PORTER Wish List for Winter

You might call me crazy, but I take managing my NET-A-PORTER wish lists as seriously as if it were my job. I separate my most-wanted buys out into the different seasons, as well as different events like holidays or partywear (did you know you could have multiple lists? It’s a game changer). But, genuinely, I find them really helpful when considering which luxury pieces to actually invest in. I’ll add items I love from the new-in sections (which I regularly check thanks to my actual job of of being a Who What Wear editor, of course), and refer back to the lists over the following weeks to make sure there’s no impulse buys or moments of madness on there that I would have regretted. I also find it really useful to see all my favourite items side by side as it’s often the case that certain pieces will jump out at me as being obviously the most versatile—items that I can totally imagine wearing with everything else on the list, for example. Not to mention the handy email updates I’ll get if items on my wish lists get low in stock or are restocked.

I’ve been working on building up my winter wish list for a while, especially since the new season designer pieces tend to drop so early these days. But now the weather is actually cold enough to wear them, I’ve been revisiting it and figuring out which handful of buys I’ll actually be adding to my wardrobe (and which I’ll be adding to my Christmas list *hint, hint*).

In case you’re feeling nosy, and wondering what a stylist and fashion editor is actually considering buying for winter 2023, I’ve added everything on my winter NET-A-PORTER wish list here for you to shop from (or add to your own lists). I’ll be honest, I have quite classic taste when it comes to luxury and focus mainly on wearable buys that I can get my money’s worth out of. So it shouldn’t come as a surprise that, below, you’ll find plenty of elevated basics like knitwear and jeans that I know I’ll wear on repeat all season. There’s also some seriously luxe coats (I’m a sucker for beautiful outerwear because they can make any high street or plain outfit look expensive and polished), and some hints at both eveningwear and loungewear to cover me for the two extremes of the winter season. Plus a little treat or two for good measure.

A red cardigan is top of every editor’s list this winter.

Toteme coats are always a wise investment—the quality and design match up to the price points.

A bag I’ve been considering buying for years now. It’s elegant and modern but also timeless.

So cosy—I’m imagining this will look gorgeous layered under the leather coat above.

Camel coats always make outfits look expensive, and this one that I’ve wanted for years has just been restocked.

Rather than repeatedly buying a new pair of high street knee-high boots every winter, I’d like to invest in these that I know I’ll pull out every year.

I just think a striped knit always looks so chic layered under a camel or black coat.

I’ve worn my blue Ayla jeans on repeat, so I know the black version makes a smart investment.

The Row’s wide-leg trousers are impeccably tailored and impossible to beat.

So polished.

Hands down, these are the comfiest leggings you’ll ever wear. I have them in a couple of colours but still haven’t got a classic black pair. If you’re 5’3″ or under like me the 25″ leg will sit just at the ankle, but if you’re taller you can also opt for the 28″ leg.

I think I might have found the ultimate knit. Buttery soft cashmere, a classic clotted cream shade and chic ribbed edges. Not too oversized or slim-fitting, not too chunky to fit under or too thin to keep you warm. this will be a cherished piece in any cold-weather wardrobe for many years to come.

I have a number of glamorous events this winter, from black tie weddings to Christmas parties, and a Taller Marmo dress is still top of my list to wear to all of them.

An autumnal version of my favourite Birkenstocks.

Forget Cartier’s Love bangle, or Tiffany’s T—it’s all about David Yurman’s cable classics since Sofia Richie recently became the face of the brand and Gen Z made the brand go viral TikTok.

If I’m honest, this will probably be my most worn item this winter. Especially when paired with leggings, UGGs and a cosy coat for working from home and weekends.

I love that Demellier’s bags look and feel completely luxurious, but they come in under £500.

The dream “nice top” to pair with everything from denim to smart black trousers this party season and beyond. I can also see it being beautiful to wear to dinners on summer holidays.

A great everyday pair of jeans I know I’ll wear on repeat.

Perfect thrown over a beige knit and blue jeans.

The chicest festive knit around, but I’ll wear this way into 2024 too.

Such a pretty gift idea, but selfishly I’d like one for myself first.

A beautiful throw-on winter dress that will looks great with chunky ankle boots and polished knee-high boots, as well as pretty ballet flats come spring.

Luxurious? Totally. But December can be dark and miserable, so opening this up each morning will brighten my days.

I’m in my cosy girl era and I’ve heard these feel like a second skin.

A fresh fragrance for the new season ahead.

In a dream world, I’d find a Cartier watch under the tree.

There’s nothing better than cosy cashmere socks in winter. I’ll be pairing these with the Birkenstocks above and my UGG tasmans.
