I'm a Fashion Editor, These Are the 27 Items I Have Saved In My Notes for Summer

Does anyone else use iPhone notes as a diary? There’s everything from my life goals to my weekly food shop, all stored in separate checklists. And of course there’s one for clothes. I still have wish lists scattered across every site (I only recently found out on H&M these can get full, whoops), but sometimes I find it better to have all the items I want from different brands in one spot. So I store them all with a brief description (e.g. pink & Other Stories shoes) with the link in my notes instead. I also find this is way to be more mindful with what I buy. instead of items going straight to my basket, I have time to think and decide if I really need/want each piece.

Here I am wearing a new outfit: Hunter Bell shirt, H&M skirt, Loewe basket bag and Dear Frances sliders.

So here is my carefully curated list of items I still have on my wish list, and it includes the dream shirt and shorts set from Arket, a dress from the brand new pre-fall Ganni collection, Valentino-inspired heels hot off the high street and the Loewe bag I haven’t stopped thinking about since March. Keep scrolling to shop 27 buys that, I believe, will bring you joy this summer.

Ganni’s pre-fall collection has just dropped online, and this banana-print dress is one of my favourite pieces. I’ve got a couple of holidays coming up, so I would wear it with orange mules and a shoulder bag for after-dark.

I’ve been perusing the Celine shades for a while to find “the one”, and now I have. Softer than bold black pairs, these will go with every outfit, always.

The return of the “nice top” is more apparent than ever this summer. It’s all about halternecks, bandeaus and one-shoulder styles—and they’re making me feel seriously nostalgic. This silky number will look so good with linen trousers, too.

The attendees at the recent Valentino couture show (swoon) made me want to wear pink platforms. And, ta da, & Other Stories have delivered the good with this actually wearable heel-height style.

Okay, okay, I’m late to the party with these but I can’t stop thinking about them. With a vest top, white shirt or slinky cami, the outfit opportunities are endless.

I’ve already got one of the Le Scarf silk scarves which I’ve framed in my bedroom (yep, it works), but now I want to get another to wear just like this. The scarf top looks so good with a pair of wide-leg trousers.

I’m all for a mid-price handbag, and this checked shoulder style from Australian label St Agni is a winner. Of course it’s not just for summer, I’ll take this through to next season, too.

Coloured shirts are overtaking the classic white shirt this season, and I’m in. I already have a lighter green that I wear all the time, but now I want this one to go with the matching shorts below.

These also come in black, beige and coral but there’s something about the bold green that I’m loving or summer this year. I would also clash these with a pastel pink shirt.

You can’t beat a great pair of wide-leg trousers. Case in point: Reformation’s ‘Mason’ style. These come in nine different colours but classic camel will never date.

Since discovering Nue Hoops, I can’t get enough of the necklaces with interchangeable charms. Naturally, I want this golden shell to go with all my summer swimwear.

Easy “throw on” mini dresses are a summer saviour. Cos has mastered the oversized silhouette (without looking tent-like), and this one ticks all the boxes. It even has pockets!

When I look at these, I can’t quite believe they’re high street. The soft leather combined with the chic golden buckle makes for the perfect everyday sandal. Well done, Mango.

I’m yet to jump on the knit vest bandwagon, but this VB style makes me want to. Sure, I may be slightly thinking ahead to autumn, but imagine it with linen shorts for now and a knit skirt with boots later in the year.

I’ve always been a mini bag person, however, since buying my Loewe x Paula’s Ibiza basket bag I now appreciate the extra room. This mid-size woven bag will work across all seasons.

How fun is this hoop-detail skirt? I’m imagining it on holiday with a cropped vest and chunky sandals.

The waistcoat (worn as a top) is sticking around for summer. I would wear this beige style on its own, over a white T-shirt undone or under a blazer for cooler weather days.

I love this criss-cross vest top. Giving a twist on a classic, buying basics doesn’t have to be boring. I would also dress this up with a silky maxi skirt for dinners.

Crochet, crochet, crochet, it’s quite literally everywhere for summer. From dresses and tops to bags and swimwear, and I can’t get enough. Style this up with mega platforms or keep it laidback for warm-weather days with a shoulder bag and flatforms.

I just want to wear everything frothy this season, so of course Aussie label Aje is here to help. Imagine this white crop with a pair of crochet trousers, somewhere exotic, by a pool with a cocktail in hand.

Trousers, shirts and shorts that look like pyjamas are always a go-to for summer. Basically, anything lightweight. These can be kept fuss-free with a basket bag, vest top and sandals. Done.

I keep seeing so many of my fellow editors and also influencers wearing Free People, and I can see why. The new in section is amazing right now and I’m particularly enjoying this light summer set.

Tangerine is the colour du jour, and I want in. These stretch-waist trews will be a godsend on holiday with a string bikini and flip flops.

Now this dream bag has been saved in my wish list since March. I love it, and I may just have to give in and get it seeing as I can imagine it with absolutely every outfit I own.

I really rate pre-order brand Alohas, and these chunky dad sandals remind me of a particular designer pair (you know the ones.)

Co-ordinating swimwear is huge news this season, and I don’t just mean matching tops and bottoms. Triangle has so many sets that you can pair with the matching print skirt, sarong, shirt or shorts.

Zara’s latest Limited Edition collection— fronted by Kate Moss— has just dropped, and I have taken a liking to this strapless top. You can wear it across all seasons, to all occasions, without ever getting bored of it.
