I'm a Style Expert—12 High-Street Buys I Can't Stop Thinking About

When it comes to looking polished every single day, no one is quite as proficient as Jessica Skye. An influencer she may be, but she has the fashion clout to match, having held various roles within the industry before she found social media stardom. It’s this intrinsic knowledge and experience that sets Skye apart from her contemporaries (along with her imitable style, of course). With a penchant for pared-back staples and easy-to-wear outfits, all in a gloriously versatile colour palette, Skye creates perennially chic looks that aren’t try-hard—a potent combination we immediately want to re-create. Thankfully, each month, Skye will be sharing her new-season selects exclusively with you.

This October I’m coming to you with my favourite high-street buys under £150. I’ve selected some standout pieces for any occasion, whether you’re looking for the perfect evening jacket to sling over your shoulders or a cosy knitwear to style everyday—I have searched the internet to find you the best items to wear over the cooler months. Enjoy!

This went straight in my basket, I absolutely adore the crop fit and faux fur detailing; the perfect jacket to sling over your shoulders if you’re going out-out.

A perfect day-to-night blouse; wear with black jeans or leather trousers.

Two things I’m very into at the moment: 1) winter whites, and 2) the preppy trend. This skirt would team perfectly with an oversized grey blazer and socks with black chunky loafers and, if you dare, a headband too.

I don’t know about you but I’m seeing these fluffy bags everywhere at the moment and I’m actually really loving them. Keep the outfit simple (and tonal) and add this faux fur number to elevate your look.

Earthy hues and fluffy jumpers are a winter must-have in my wardrobe. This forest green number teams perfectly with wide leg cream trousers.

Loafers are making a comeback and I’m so here for it. They really remind me of my school days and to be honest I’m ready to go back in time. Pair with black socks, a mini skirt and an oversized blazer for the ultimate preppy look.

I still have such a soft spot for Topshop; I don’t think I’ll ever not have a quick browse on the new-in section. I’ve been on the hunt for a reasonably priced aviator jacket that looks high-end and I think I’ve found it—size up for maximum impact.

There’s nothing I love to wear more than a casual denim shirt in the autumn, and double denim wins every time.

Everyone needs a pair of faux leather trousers in their wardrobe, so why not try something a little different and go for a subtle crocodile print instead. The perfect trousers to transition from day to night. I love to team mine with a white t-shirt or an oversized cardigan.

Hands down my favourite trainers at the moment; I love New Balance as they help me tap into that cool-girl aesthetic and go with just about everything in my wardrobe. A perfect everyday sneaker.

Hello cosy oversized knitwear season—this is giving me designer vibes but for a fraction of the price.

You can’t beat a beautiful duster coat in off-white for winter. A classic you can (and will) bring out every year!

Autumn is finally creeping up on us and I’m not ashamed to say that I’m actually so ready for it. I think we can all firmly admit we squeezed every last inch out of the summer (dare I say I’m ready to put away the basket bags). And now I’m very keen to dip my toes into some cosier clothes. I’ve definitely noticed myself grabbing a jumper to throw over the shoulders when I’m heading out the door of late. So, for this month’s edit, I’ve selected 12 autumn capsule wardrobe pieces that can also transition into the winter months, too.

Mohair jumpers are such a simple way to elevate a look. These fuzzy jumpers always add a certain sophistication to an everyday outfit. This gorgeous jumper is also available in cream and hot pink.

Nothing speaks autumn more than rich, earthy-hued handbags. I absolutely love this Bottega Veneta Jodie Teen; it has been on my radar since last year. I love the slouchy, over-shoulder style.

A stripe number in my edit? Yup. I am obsessed with nautical pieces—they’re an item I always (and I mean always) feel so good in.

An absolute showstopper last winter and still exquisite this season. Toteme has launched some new colourways of this jacket this year which include jet black and camel, but I think my favourite is still this cream dream which includes the chain hem detailing for that extra wow factor.

Anyone else always on the search for the perfect tailored trousers? Fear not. These Reformation pants are exceptional.

I’ve been on the look out for some new boots for autumn and these AllSaints suede beauties are the perfect pair for this transitional weather.

It’s no secret I’m a huge fan of Arket—its on-trend minimalist approach has me drooling each and every season. Pair this oversized dusty blue blazer with black leather trousers and trainers for an effortless on-the-go look.

The perfect top to transition into the cooler months ahead. And a great date night top, too.

This is the time of year where I like to invest in good quality pyjamas so I’m ready to hunker down for winter. I’m such a fan of Honna; its PJs embody style and comfort, are available in various colours and all 100% cotton.

Cosy levels are certainly peaking when I look at this cardigan. Team with white barrel-cut jeans for the perfect autumnal look.

I think it’s about time I upgrade my trainer game. Each autumn I’m always looking out for which trainers are trending and Axel Arigato is leading the way. I’ll be wearing these with my favourite raw-hem Levi’s 501 jeans, white T-shirt and a grey sweater over the shoulders.

Summer is not over. I repeat, summer is not over. So for this month’s edit, I have opted for some elevated basics to keep you going through till the end of summer, but that you can wear well into autumn, too, with a few clever styling tricks. Think cosy cardigans, tailored trousers and some throw-on linen pieces. My wardrobe is full of very simple and easy to wear clothing, it’s what I feel most comfortable in, and not to mention when you shop simple and tonal you can mix-and-match almost everything and anything in your wardrobe.

Nautical inspired stripes aren’t going anywhere anytime soon, whether that’s in summer or winter. This Arket cotton jumper is a great way to add a little personality to your everyday outfit. Stripes can be styled in so many ways and generally go with most items. If you’re feeling risky, double-up on the stripes with a jumper around the neck.

Tank tops have made a huge comeback this season and I’m definitely partial to wearing them regularly, especially off the shoulder styles which can make any outfit go from day-to-night, such an effortless look when teamed with jeans, leathers and tailored trousers.

I love to wear white in the summer, especially white jeans but more recently I’ve been opting for a relaxed chino style trouser. The pressed creases give a more sophisticated look.

What’s an autumn edit without a trench coat? They’re incredibly easy to style and team with almost everything in your wardrobe. From day to night, a classic trench has you covered… Quite literally.

Something I’ve found myself gravitating towards more and more over the last few years is comfortable clothing and that mostly includes lots of linen pieces. This stone-washed Deiji Studios two-piece is perfect for those casual days. Team with a crossbody bag and rope sandals.

One way to make a simple outfit look incredibly chic and not too try hard is to add an elegant handbag—making that the focus of your outfit. Wear your favourite white jeans, linen t-shirt, brown suede sandals, and this beautiful Loewe canvas-jacquard bag.

An absolute wardrobe staple to bring out summer after summer, the shape isn’t so trend-led so it’s something I’ll have hanging in my wardrobe forever.

A crisp white shirt is an absolute essential in my everyday wardrobe; opt for an oversized fit, hand-draped sleeves and pointed collar for a more elevated look.

I’m not quite ready for autumn dressing yet, but I can’t help peeking at some more covered up pieces and Arket has got me drooling for the cooler months ahead.

This bouclé set is a perfect everyday outfit, wear with an oversized handbag and Converse.

Crushing over this satin cami top—I’m such a jeans gal and my idea of perfect outfit is jeans and a nice top. Add a touch of red lipstick and gold hoops and you’re good to go.

I absolutely love American Vintage, especially when it comes to stylish easy throw-on dressing. This beautiful cardigan is perfect to slip over the shoulders when the temperature drops.

There’s nothing I love more than wearing an oversized knit jumper and shorts in the evening, whether it’s for chilled BBQs or an evening in the beer garden. I love the lightweight cable knit style and vertical stripes. I’ve teamed mine with leather shorts and my trusted Nomadic State sandals.

Hooray! It’s finally that time of year when we can leave the house without a jacket (well, on most days, anyway). This month, I’ve selected 12 throw-on dresses that can be worn day to night and right through autumn, too, with the simple change from sandals to boots. And if you’re anything like me and always seem to gravitate towards a less-is-more look, then you’re going to love these no-fuss dresses. When it comes to dressing in the summer, I always opt for foolproof pieces that I can throw on and run out of the door in.

When summer comes around, I pounce on Sleeper. Its elegant dresses are always something I feel so whimsical in. Team with chunky gold hoops, a red lip and a sleek low ponytail.

Run, don’t walk. This embroidered white Topshop dress is quite possibly my new favourite thing. The relaxed sleeves and stretch waist speak designer but without the price tag.

This lively number is the perfect antidote for those scorching-hot barbecues. The exaggerated puff sleeves and shirred detailing add the perfect dimension.

Fancy being a little more covered up? Why not try a kaftan-style dress? The loose sleeves and breathable fabric are great when you don’t want to feel too hot and flustered.

This beautiful stone-grey dress by Raey is made from a breathable linen blend and can be worn through summer and winter.

Cotton poplin dresses are a style I have hanging in my wardrobe every summer. This lilac frock went straight in my basket.

Arket nails throw-on dresses. Simple, sophisticated and elegant—need I say more?

It doesn’t get any more throw-on than this. Matteau is your one-stop destination for easy-to-pull-off dresses.

This smock dress is a glorious option for a picnic in the park. I love the embroidered daisy print.

Linen is an absolute must-have in my summer capsule wardrobe. Not only do I opt for linen trousers and shirts, but dresses are a great way to keep cool too. This dress can be worn day or night, teamed with high heels or wrap-around flat sandals.

This is the iconic Reformation print. Remember the silky bias midi skirt it brought out a few years ago? Well, now it comes in the perfect long-sleeved dress and features slits down the side if you wanted to show a little bit of leg.

I am drooling just staring at this. The romantic floral print and bodice-style dress is a serious (if not the only) contender for every soirée.

The invitations have landed and it’s nearly the season when weddings are in full swing. If you’re anything like me it’s an absolute panic station—rummaging through the back of the cupboard, trying to find something suitable to wear. I don’t dress up often but, when I do, I go all out (and even wear some eye-popping colours). So fear not—I have you covered. For this month’s edit, I’ve selected 12 standout pieces that will take you from the altar straight to the dance floor—and hopefully these items you can re-wear for any special occasion.

Starting the edit off with this bubble-gum pink vintage inspired dress by Ghost. The button down detailing and puff sleeves is an absolute showstopper.

Rixo nails the wedding guest aesthetic every single time, a hot spot if you’re in a last-minute panic. You’re guaranteed to find something you love.

Understated but so elegant—a slicked-back low pony, a red lip, some gold chunky heels, and you’re good to go.

This Zara Bohemian-style wrap dress is perfect if you want to feel a little more covered up.

I mean, it’s love at first sight. Elegance is key as a wedding guest and this Reformation dress speaks sophistication at its best.

Not a huge fan of going over the top as a wedding guest? Then opt for a simple yet timeless slip dress.

When it comes to investing in designer handbags, it’s something I think long and hard about. Yes, they need to be versatile and work hard in my wardrobe, but are they going to stand the test of time, too? I’ve hand-picked 12 must-have designer handbags of the season that will be sure to revamp your existing wardrobe and give you a spring in your step.

Rich, earthy-hue handbags have always been a winner in my wardrobe, and this Bottega Veneta Jodie is the ultimate day-to-night companion, perfect for running from the office straight to the bar.

The Loewe Puzzle is a cult bag that doesn’t seem to be going anywhere. I’ve had mine for just over three years, and it’s still my most-worn and -loved handbag. It’s so incredibly easy to style. It’s the perfect everyday handbag.

A hybrid between a basket bag and a tote bag—need I say more? Whilst we’re still in the midst of winter, there’s no harm in peeking at some mid-season trends.

Tried and tested—I absolutely love my Celine Triomphe, and it’s a handbag I know I will keep forever. It’s the perfect accessory for those days when you want to keep your attire chill but still want to look put together.

I’m always drawn to Scandi brands, and ACNE’s Musubi is an absolute classic. It’s simple yet incredibly chic and versatile.

Taking the plunge when buying a designer bag can feel a little overwhelming, so why not try renting a handbag first to see if you really love it? I’m planning on road-testing this one next.

A bag that doubles up as a pillow? Yes, please. The Coach Pillow Tabby was all over Instagram last summer, and it’s still jet-setting around now. It’s available in an array of neutral tones and colour-popping bursts.

The Mary Poppins bag of all bags. Everyone needs a giant tote bag that you can squeeze just about anything in—including your gym kit.

I dreamed of having this bag in my early 20s, and I still dream of it now. Well, now it’s back and in hot pursuit. Alexa has had a little revamp, and she’s looking cuter than ever.

This bag speaks luxury and style. It’s no-frills—just simple, classy and guaranteed to go with your entire wardrobe.
