I'm in the Mood for Something New Yet Timeless—These H&M and Zara Pieces Work

Whenever I’m in the mood to treat myself to something new—something affordable to scratch the itch but still make all my existing outfits feel fresher—I always head directly to two places: H&M and Zara. Both retailers have nuanced and often elevated takes on the trends and appeasing price tags, so I don’t think I need to go into detail as to why I find them so appealing. However, just because I get the urge to shop doesn’t mean I do so frivolously or without consideration.

Influencer Jessica Skye wears a khaki jacket from Zara.

Sure, there are pretty pieces in every H&M and Zara category, but that makes their respective websites a bit of a trap where appearances can easily lull you. However, when I shop H&M and Zara, I do so with as discerning an eye as possible, seeking out the pieces that go beyond the current season and that genuinely fit with my aesthetic. While everyone has their own personal style, I do believe I’ve managed to curate an edit of the best Zara and H&M fashion items that won’t date for anyone. Take a look below, and hopefully, you’ll find something you love.

I always come back to H&M’s linen pieces.

The perfect relaxed fit.

Crochet is big news for spring/summer 2023, but it also happens to be timeless.

This is Jessica’s exact jacket—according to the website, it fits a tad oversized.

Until it’s warm enough to go coat-less, I’ll be wearing versatile layers like this.

Summer IS on the way people…

I want this whole suit. Stat.

Wear with a mini skirt and tights now, minus the tights in a month or two.

This looks so premium for the price.

I almost want winter to last longer so I can live in this dress… Almost.

A key piece for the warm season.

I’ve been seeing skirts like this all over Instagram, and I had no idea they could be so affordable.

How cute is this cropped blazer?

Is this not the prettiest dress you’ve ever seen?

Our team is still obsessed with ballet flats.

Everyone needs a great striped jumper.

Your basic tank top gets a summery update.

Classic sandals with a modern twist.

This jacket also comes in an off-white and sand-coloured denim.

To complete your ‘jeans-and-a-nice-top’ look.

I adore this tonal styling. Well done, Zara.

Designer-esque for just £20!

The ultimate throw-on dress.

It’s faux leather, but it looks and feels as good as the real thing.

One of the best pairs of jeans on the high street. Period.

These trendy trousers comes in cream and pink, too.

This would be ideal for layering over bikinis on holiday.

So elegant.

If you want your outfits to look French, this is how.

Wear unbuttoned over a dress or done up and tucked into jeans.

I’m convinced quilted jackets were created with British springtime in mind.

Jumpsuits are being given the wide-leg treatment this season.
