I've Been a Stylist for 24 Years—This Is the One

Discovering and fine-tuning your personal style is a journey. For Roz Kaur, the process is near to her heart given her adoration for fashion as a way to express herself. She’s been experimenting with style for a long time—especially with her work as a stylist over the last 24 years. While she continues to uncover new inspiration to shape her style, she now has a defined aesthetic. On that note, there’s one trend that’s stuck with her over these years that’s signature to her: the tailoring trend. In fact, she basically considers it a “forever trend” because it’s one she’ll always stand behind thanks to the timeless nature.

“I don’t believe in menswear or womenswear,” she said. “I wear what I like, and below is how I make these beautiful, functional, and adaptable pieces my own.” If you keep scrolling, you’ll see the tailoring items Kaur turns to often, including trench coats and blazers. You’ll also find accessories to team with the tailored items, a range of visual references to showcase how Kaur styles the pieces, and inspired shopping picks.

On Roz Kaur: J.Crew suit. “I gravitate toward trouser suits and shirts, especially classic suits in great fabrics and amazing cuts. A suit can be dressed down with a pair of sneakers and a T-shirt or upgraded to elegance with a silk shirt and stilettos. I’ve gone all out and layered this one to the max.”

On Kaur: Zara trench. “The leather trench is a timeless piece in a perennially stylish shade like monochromatic chestnut brown. It’s a forever staple in my wardrobe.”

On Kaur: Zara tuxedo. “The tux is my classic eveningwear choice, which, to me, is equally as chic as an LBD. Add an element of softness with a silk camisole, a red lip, and a gold-link bracelet.”

On Kaur: Grenson shoes. “Why do I love brogues, oxfords, and loafers? Because you can style these legendary classics with a range of items.”

On Kaur: Maria Jobse bag. “I’ve always loved a big, boxy bag and wear mine with everything from a pair of distressed jeans, a tee, and sneakers to a knit dress and even an off-shoulder suit.”

On Kaur: vintage gloves. “Currently, I’ve been wearing my long leather gloves when I’m in the mood to make a statement.”

On Kaur: dad’s hat. “Yes, I’m a hat person. And yes, my dad still has a wardrobe stashed full of them, so it’s no surprise that I’ll be wearing his wool-trimmed newsboy caps all winter long.”

Next up, the biggest autumn/winter 2021 fashion trends to know.
