Kaia Gerber Just Wore My Favourite Leggings-and-Fleece Outfit 3 Times in a Week

I may be a fashion editor, but I’m more than willing to admit I spend more than 50% of my time these days wearing leggings. I’d like to say it’s a hangover from the pandemic and the introduction of more working from home, but, honestly, I’ve long been a fan. Which means I’m always on the lookout for ways to make leggings look particularly cool, fresh or at the very least acceptable to wear out of the house.

One item in particular I’ve been wearing (yes, on repeat) with my trusty Girlfriend Collectives and lululemons this winter is the Free People Hit the Slopes fleece. Honestly, I’m not really sure what I wore before I discovered the cosy jumper at the end of last year (when my fellow Who What Wear editors recommended it to me). And with January serving mostly miserable grey days so far, this easy but acceptable-for-errands outfit has become my morning go to.

You can imagine my delight, then, when on a recent celebrity image deep dive I discovered supermodel Kaia Gerber in none other than this exact outfit (let’s not talk about who wore it better, shall we?) Not only did Kaia forgo her usual top-to-toe Celine wardrobe for the Free People Hit the Slopes Fleece (in the navy jacket version) once, or even twice—she’s already been spotted in this winning fleece and leggings combo three times in January so far. I feel seen.

Kaia has switched between wearing her Free People fleece and leggings with Nike Training Free Metcon 4 Trainers and, of course, her trusty UGG boots. I’ve been wearing it with my New Balance 530s and my H&M knee high chunky boots when I want to feel a bit more polished. Whichever way you swing it, it’s clear this cosy fleece is an excellent investment when you consider the cost per wear.

Keep scrolling to shop my favourite colours of the cult Free People fleece in both the jacket and pullover versions, as well as some hero pieces to wear with it. Then, thank me later.
