Katie Holmes Just Wore the Perfect Puddle Pants for Winter

Katie Holmes cemented her fashion icon-status the moment she stepped out in that Khaite bradigan in 2019 and, honestly, she hasn’t put a foot wrong since. The undisputed queen of low-key NYC street style, Holmes’s off-duty wares have earned her a loyal legion of fans who are eager to see what she’ll wear next. Needless to say, I’m one of them. I take the responsibility of sharing her looks with the masses very seriously, but even I almost let her latest ‘fit slip through the net.

Stepping out New York’s Midtown earlier this week, there’s but one photograph of Katie Holmes’s most recent ensemble. Just one. And what a shame it would have been to miss it! The actor had just come from hosting an intimate dinner with skincare expert Dr. Barbara Sturm to celebrate the opening of two new stores in the city when waiting photographers managed to capture this impressive look in motion. Featuring an oversized leather shirt paired with wide-leg leather trousers, both of which are Khaite, this might just be one of my favourite Katie Holmes outfits to date.

Holmes is just one of the many celebrities who have been readily wearing puddle pants—trousers with long hemlines that pool around the ankle—this season, and I’m into how she’s managing to transition the trend into winter by sourcing a pair in a leather fabrication. This woman doesn’t come to play.

Katie’s Khaite leather shirt is hard to track down, but this Arket option presents an excellent (and more frugal) alternative.

A solid puddle right there.

Look closely and you’ll see Katie’s shoes also feature a silver toe-cap detail.

Such a great silhouette.

That drape.

Another longline leather option.

A truly great set.

Reserve these for dry days.

Switch things up with a pleated pair.

Loulou Studio has excellent tailored trouser options.

Easy to dress up or down.
