Mets ‘deeply disappointed’ by acting GM Zack Scott’s alleged DUI

The New York Mets said in a statement Wednesday they’re “surprised and deeply disappointed” that acting general manager Zack Scott is facing an alleged driving under the influence charge.

Police found Scott asleep in a 2018 Toyota early Tuesday morning in the New York suburb of White Plains, according to The New York Post. Scott reportedly refused to give blood or submit to a breathalyzer, but underwent a field sobriety test and failed.

“We were surprised and deeply disappointed to learn this morning about an alleged DUI involving Zack Scott,” the Mets said. “We take this matter very seriously. Zack will not be travelling with the team for our upcoming road trip while we learn more and determine next steps.”

Scott, who previously worked with the Boston Red Sox for 17 years, joined the Mets as assistant general manager in 2020 and was promoted to interim general manager in January after the club fired Jared Porter for sending inappropriate text messages and photos to a female journalist.
