No Doubt About It—M&S Has the Best Coats, Boots and Jumpers for Autumn

I was in my local Marks & Spencer store the other day and overheard a woman say to the sales assistant “I just love autumn at M&S”. And you know what? I completely agree with her. The colder months is when the high street brand comes into its own; if anyone knows British style, it’s the people at M&S who have been outfitting us for decades, and leaning into the cooler climes is its speciality. The proof? It’s in the proverbial pudding where the main ingredients are coats, boots, and jumpers.

Whenever I find myself lacking in cosy knits or a realise I could do with investing in a particular boot style, Marks & Spencer is the first place I turn. With consistent sizing (something that’s becoming infuriatingly unreliable on the high street) and a level of quality that, more often than not, surpasses its price-tags, I’ll always advocate for an M&S purchase. And right now, M&S’s coat, boot and jumper offerings are so impressive, it only seems right to share them with you and to give the brand its dues.

Striped knitwear never dates.

An expensive-looking shade of green.

The rollover neckline will be so cosy to wear.

You can’t go wrong with a classic cable knit.

It’s hard to find premium-looking red tones, but M&S has nailed it with this v-neck.

A great layering piece—I wear my knitted tanks over long-sleeve t-shirts and pie-crust blouses.

A fun take on black-and-white knitwear.

The longer hemline is ideal for wearing over slip skirts and tailored trousers alike.

An easy way to add some playful brights to your autumn wardrobe.

These also come in a pretty beige hue.

And yes, these classic knee-high boots come in black, too.

These will swiftly become my weekend go-tos.

From Celine to Saint Laurent, platform boots were all over the autumn/winter 2022 runways.

The ultimate evening boot—just add your favourite midi dress.

Cowboy boots are trending big time this season—this is easily one of the best pairs of which I’ve seen on the high street.

The soft fabric around the ankle will make these so much easier to pull on than more rigid styles.

Square-toes on boots feel so current.

With a clever anti-satining finish, these suede booties will look fresher for longer.

Greige—a combination of grey and beige—is the perfect neutral, and will go with so many pieces you already own. Which is pretty important in terms of coats.

Quilted styles are still going strong.

This shearling-trimmed biker will keep you extra toasty. Oh, and it also comes in khaki green.

Borg textures are one of the biggest coat trends this season.

I love this woollen take on the trench coat; so sleek.

M&S always delivers on affordable camel coats.

Coats with hoods are always a sound investment.

The collarless labels give this coat a streamlined finish that will work in even the most minimalist wardrobes.

Wear this coat with flared jeans and retro trainers.
