No Fuss, No Frills—5 Effortless Outfit Formulas to Keep You Cool in 25º Heat

As we are all well aware, the British weather enjoys keeping us on our toes with its sporadic changing temperatures. After two months of heatwaves and over 30º weather, next week’s forecast of a cooler 25º is a welcomed change (something I never thought I’d say), but If I’m on a sunbed with a rosé in hand, I can finally sit in the sun all day long without burning to a crisp.

Summer is my favourite season to dress for. Light linens, floaty dresses, slip-on sandals and sunglasses with every outfit—it’s such an effortless approach to dressing that always gives a polished and put-together finish. With such a versatile season, pieces can be worn in so many different ways to create such an array of looks, so I tend to invest in longevity buys more so in the summer months as I know I’ll bring them out each year.

In the summer months, trusted outfit formulas are key, and there’s nothing worse than having to change and getting hot and bothered in the process. I’m all about ease and love having those core capsule pieces that I know will work with anything in my wardrobe to curate an array of stylish go-to looks.

Wondering how I do it? I’ve rounded up five key outfit combos that are failsafe options to wear in 25º heat. Just make sure to finish off with some suncream.

1. Halterneck Top + Long Shorts + Statement Accessories

Style Notes: Julie’s look has completely inspired me to inject some colour into my otherwise minimalist wardrobe. I tend to step outside my comfort zone in the summer months, so I love how she’s paired a bright hue with a classic white short for that outfit focal point, and kept her accessories bright to tie it all together. The halterneck is a great idea for midday sun, but longer line shorts keep things covered for when the chill starts to set in in the evening.

Style Notes: A floaty top is the kind of classic summer staple I find myself reaching for on repeat during the warmer months. Worn with jeans, skirts or shorts, it’s such a versatile capsule piece, and I particularly love it with a printed bottom to contrast the romantic style with more tailored edge.

Style Notes: Is there anything more effortless than a matching co-ord set? It’s one of those easy looks that always implies that the wearer has given their outfit plenty of thought (though you know otherwise). Simply throw it on, add a basic flip flop and bask at the stylish look that comes out of it.

4. White Linen Maxi Dress + Neutral Accessories

Style Notes: Linen is a go-to for any summer wardrobe, and for very good reason, but it really comes into it’s own during a heatwave. Opting for a white maxi dress and adding neutral-toned accessories speaks to my minimalist heart, but it also ensures that it is a look that is appropriate no matter the occasion; and yes, that includes the office.

Style Notes: For those that want to keep things minimalist, Monikh’s look proves simple doesn’t mean boring. Linen shorts and a simple top are effortlessly cool option (in every sense of the word), and will see you through the heat in style. Add an on-trend pendant necklace and a classic flip flop, and it’s going to become a go-to combination for me.
