Nylander, Woll keep Maple Leafs season alive with Game 4 win over Panthers

William Nylander and Mitch Marner scored, and rookie goalie Joesph Woll shut the door as the Toronto Maple Leafs defeated the Florida Panthers 2-1 in Game 4 of this Eastern Conference semifinal series.

The win keeps the Maple Leafs season alive and forces a Game 5 on Friday night. (7 p.m. ET on Sportsnet and SN NOW).

Nylander’s goal came on the power play early in the second period, after a puck ricocheted off an official and landed on Nylander’s stick in the slot. Mitch Marner provided some insurance with a goal midway through the third period. Both players snapped seven-game goalless droughts with their goals.

Sam Reinhart’s power-play goal with just under eight minutes to go in the third brought the game within one, but the Panthers were unable to complete the comeback.

Woll was making his first career playoff start after goaltender Ilya Samsonov was injured in Game 3.
