The Edmonton Oilers became the second Canadian team to clinch a playoff spot on Saturday after beating the Anaheim Ducks 6-0.
Leon Draisaitl led the Oilers with three goals, giving him 50 on the season for the third time in his career.
With their spot secured, the Oilers can now turn their attention to playoff seeding and their pursuit of the Pacific Division title. With a record of 45-23-9 and 99 points, Edmonton is in a tight race for top spot in the Pacific Division with the Vegas Golden Knights and Los Angeles Kings
The Oilers have been one of the league’s hottest teams since as of late, sporting a 24-5-6 record since Jan. 11.
Edmonton is the second Canadian squad to clinch a playoff berth as the Toronto Maple Leafs booked their spot on Monday.
The 2022-23 trip to the post-season marks the fourth straight for Connor McDavid and the Oilers. They were eliminated in the Western Conference Finals by the Colorado Avalanche last season.
