At Who What Wear we spend eight hours a day writing about and talking about trending products, and so this often leads to micro-trends forming within our own team.
At least twice a week, I’ll wear the same outfit or item as someone in my team and as our L.A. and New York team. This year, there is one item that we’ve all bought (or tried very hard to buy, but missed out on it). The item in question is a black top from & Other Stories which has statement puffy sleeves, a high collar and a fitted smock panel bodice with a fluted hem.
I own it, WWWUK’s Shopping Editor, Joy Montgomery, owns it and our NYC-based Senior Fashion Editor, Lauren Eggersten, also owns it. It sold out very quickly at the end of 2019, but & Other Stories know that a good thing is worth repeating, and so it just brought it back. Unsurprisingly, it has jumped immediately to the top of its trending products page. At £75, it’s certainly at the expensive end of the scale for the high street, but it looks really premium and is very easy to style casually or for smarter occasions. Now onto a dull a practical point: I was slightly concerned about how the smocking would fare in a washing machine but can confirm it isn’t a dry-clean-only item and doesn’t need ironing.
