Paul Bissonnette sings ‘Wonderwall’ parody to honour Maple Leafs goalie

Paul Bissonnette has long been celebrated for the ways he has helped usher in the next generation of hockey fans. But on Friday night, he dipped back in time with a parody of an Oasis classic to celebrate the starting goalie of his favourite team.

“I said maybe, you’re going to be the one that saves me,” Bissonnette sang during Friday’s NHL on TNT broadcast. “Because after all, you’re my Joseph Woll.”

Bissonnette’s Maple Leafs will clash with the Boston Bruins in a Game 7 Saturday night and Woll has been nothing short of spectacular since entering the series in Game 4.

The 25-year-old is coming off a near-shutout in Game 6 and has a sparkling .964 save percentage and 0.86 goals-against average in the series.

If Woll and the Maple Leafs can complete their improbable comeback on Saturday, look out for Bissonnette to start popping bottles while singing “Champagne Supernova” on his next show.
