So Many Celebrities Went to The Fashion Awards Dressed Like Mega Brides

For the Royal Albert Hall based 2023 Fashion Awards, the industry’s darlings fled to the capital styling an array of awe-striking event-wear. Whilst we say layers of tulle, a meadows worth of rosettes and sparkles bright enough to light up the city, I was struck by the sheer volume of those swapped their traditional black-tie dresses for bright white styles.

Tapping into the growing bridal trend, our favourite celebrities including Pamela Anderson, Anne Hathaway, Maya Jama experimented with whites, creams and beiges, in lieu of traditional winter tones such as black, white or brown for the occasion.

Anne Hathaway leant into the new season trend styling a floor-length archive Valentino dress with a deep scoop neck and body-skimming cut. Though at first glance, this floor-sweeping dress appeared minimal and relaxed, on closer inspection, the clever embroidery, intricate cuts and elegant drapes elevated the feel of her vintage dress, for a less-is-more approach to event styling.

Channelling the same less-is-more energy, former actress and author Pamela Anderson rejected a traditional dress for the occasion, instead opting for a relaxed tonal look that featured well tailored white trousers, and knitted top, and a boxy ivory blazer. Keeping her look feeling bright and fresh, Anderson sported a bare face to the event, instead allowing her natural flush to decorate her face.

For a grungier take on party styling, actress Maisie Williams tapped into several major styling trends at once for the highly anticipated fashion event. Choosing a white tulle Simone Rocha dress, Maisie adorned her look in flowing ribbons, nodding to the growing ribbon trend and injecting a festive edge into her party-ready look.  Maisie’s sheer and voluminous dress outfit with grounded with chunky platform heels and decorated further with the addition of a crystal-embellished head piece—giving 2024 brides a fresh dose of styling inspiration in the process.

Styling a simple yet elegant white dress to the evening event, singer Olivia Dean choose to opt into the growing draped dress trend, choosing a white cut-out dress which she styled with a bright gold handbag and white pointed-toe heels. With a distinctly bridal take, host for the night, Maya Jama styled white thigh high sheer socks, with a bold diamond ring and lashings of frills. Cinched with a corset and completing her look with white pointed-toe heels, the presenter balanced a bridal influence with red carpet glamour, opting for a deep burgundy lip and sleek low bun.

Though we’ve seen browns, reds and greys emerge as major colour trends this season, I’m excited to see the style set opt for this fresh, wearable shade, right in time for the winter season.
