The Chic Dress Trend I Can't Go Without During Winter

When it comes to getting dressed at this time of year, my main goal is to be cosy. As someone who consistently feels the chill, being warm is of the utmost importance to me and is probably why 99% of my winter wardrobe consists of pieces made from wool. From thick trousers to cosy knits, garments made from wool cannot be beaten in terms of keeping you cosy but, also, enabling you to look chic. And right now, I’ve set my sights on finding the perfect wool dress.

It was just last week when I realised that I don’t own any wool dresses. Knitted, yes, but as for pure wool, be it merino, alpaca, or cashmere, I was shocked when I realised I’d never invested in the real thing. Taking to the market (read: H&M’s search bar), I was pleased to see that there’s no shortage of wool dresses out there. From boiled wool to ultra-soft weaves, you really can take your pick. Me? I’m into the tailored iterations I found at Massimo Dutti, and the chic drapery showcased at The Row. They might sit at opposite ends of the budget spectrum but below, I’ve rounded up a selection of the best wool dresses for every budget.

So grab your knee-high boots, shearling coat, and get ready to be cosy for the entire season. Scroll on for the chicest wool dresses of the moment.

This beige hue will go perfectly with any coat colour you pair it with.

The colour of the season!

I’ll wear this with a classic striped blue shirt underneath.

The LBD gets a cosy overhaul.

I’m a sucker for a pie-crust collar.

A directional take on the timeless cable knit.

A woollen dress, but make it glamorous!

This is the shorter version of Abi Marvel’s Khaite maxi above.

Always here for a Gucci horsebit.

This chic style comes in so many colours and will look great with just about any boot trend going.

A thigh-high split always makes dresses feel fancy.

Such a beautiful neckline.

This draped number also comes in a classic black hue.

Try belting this midi to give it fresh appeal when you’ve been wearing it nonstop.

Chic with a capital C.

I love the idea of wearing a woollen dress with another key winter trend; mary janes.

Picture this with logo tights, glossy knee boots and a camel coat.

This will look cute with a colour-pop roll neck underneath.

I didn’t know I needed a wool halter dress until I saw this style. The long gloves as an accent? Inspired!
