The Up-and-Coming It Brands Net-a-Porter Is Backing This Season

Every year, Net-a-Porter announces the brands that it’s backing for global success that season, and considering that it’s regarded by fashion editors as an authority on fashion’s up-and-comers, this is something we sit up and pay attention to. The Vanguard global mentorship program might be a new initiative, but it’s a brilliant a way to support young designers, and of course, a chance for us to see who is leading the way in design right now. Well, the 2020 results are in, and it’s our favourite lineup to date.

This year’s list is made up of three inspiring female designers and, unsurprisingly, Netflix’s Next in Fashion winner Minju Kim is one of them. Last year Minju dazzled the judges with her sculptural yet playful designs, and her first collection with Net-a-Porter was a sellout success, so really it was a no-brainer. Jia Jia, meanwhile, is a jewellery brand that creates its wares out of natural, uncut, hand-selected crystals. Regardless of whether you’re a believer in crystal healing, these delicate pieces are undeniably beautiful.

Finally, there’s ArtClub, a sustainable fashion brand that produces its designs in limited runs to ensure minimal waste, plus everything is made locally in the designer’s hometown of Sydney. From shimmering party tops to refined separates, this is grown-up glamour at its best. Scroll down to see and shop Net-a-Porter’s 2020 Vanguard award winners.

South Korean–based fashion designer Minju Kim shot into the spotlight last year after winning Netflix’s Next in Fashion with her sculptural, playful designs. This season she has stuck to her signature smock silhouette in shades of white and pink.

Founded by Jia-Jia Zhu, every piece from Jia Jia’s jewellery line is crafted in the house’s atelier from hand-selected, natural, uncut and untreated crystals. The result is delicate styles that each possess their own symbolic meaning.

Founded on sustainable principles that focus on ethical production and longevity, every item from ArtClub’s collection is produced in limited runs and made locally in Sydney. Expect everything from party tops to versatile shirt dresses.
