These Crazy-Popular Sandals Are Back in Different Colours—We're Hooked

There are sandals, and then there are cult sandals—the kind that sell out faster than it takes to open your TikTok app or have a sip of that iced coffee you’ve been yearning for all year. There are certain summer shoe styles that capture the imaginations of enough people that they generate wild waiting lists, fan clubs and celebrity devotees. One highly coveted example can be traced back to UGG‘s bold decision to introduce a fluffy, chunky-soled slider sandal a few years ago. Almost overnight, the Fluff Yeah became an internet sensation, counting Gigi and Bella Hadid, Selena Gomez and Megan Fox among the many A-listers who couldn’t resist its charm.

The Fluff Yeah resurgence came at just the right time, when the snuggly-footwear trend was coming to the fore. Lockdown had prompted many of us to seek out comfort with a side order of cool, and demand for slipper-like options was at an all-time high. UGG’s Fluff Yeah committed to the look more than any other sandal, and as a result, the fervour for them was real. The Fluff Yeah become the brand’s top seller in both the UK and Europe, and that’s no mean feat considering the incredible popularity of UGG’s legacy shearling boots. And what insiders called the “Fluff halo effect” still shows no sign of slowing down, even as our lifestyles continue to change. We’ve become accustomed to the joy of personality-enhancing accessories, so it’s no wonder that the range has extended to include multiple iterations that fashion people, editors and celebs still very much love. See and shop our favourites from UGG’s S/S 22 collection below.

The OG Fluff Yeah continues to be hugely popular, and now, with its many new colours, prints and platform styles, there’s an iteration to suit everyone’s preference. This season, the brand’s Feel You campaign champions just that, casting a diverse array of agenda-setting people to showcase the wide-ranging collection and the many wonderful ways it can be worn.

Musician Remi Wolf sums up the eclectic mood for spring/summer, pairing her Fluff Yeah Animalia slides with a kooky combination of socks and a confident print clash of patchwork, polka dots and space-dyed knits. Throw in some additional quirky accessories for good measure and you have yourself the kind of ensemble that will go viral on social media and persuade every minimalist out there to be a little bit more experimental.

There are plainer options to buy into when it comes to the Fluff Yeah family, so if the animal print feels too exotic for your liking, simply check out the pared-back colours such as natural, burnt olive or black (which is unsurprisingly a best seller).

Now, if you’re a lover of platform sandals, here’s where things really start to heat up. The Disco Cross is one of UGG’s newer styles that’s proving to be popular across the globe. Not only does it add a little lift thanks to that Y2K-inspired platform, but it’s made from layered EVA foam, so it’s ultra comfortable—perfect for the summer plans and all-day adventures that are surely filling up your diary.

Stylist and Creative Director Olive Duran shows us how she’d wear her super-bright, taffy-pink Disco Cross sandals, and we’re here for that level of dedication to the season’s biggest colour trend. Here, she’s combined them with printed socks (the socks-and-sandals combo is clearly a winning formula for all UGG sandals fans), a black mini and a pink jacket to match her chosen hue.

The Disco Cross comes in a few different colourways—some bold, some classic—so there’s an option for both louder and quieter dressers.

The Maxi Slide takes its lead from the exaggerated proportions of the original Fluff Yeah, but it has a sportier spin. If you like your sandals to slip on in one swift move and feel like glorious pillows for your feet, these are the golden ticket. They’re stacked with a 2.5″ sole, which means you could easily never think about wearing uncomfortable heels ever again, but they also give a laid-back edge that can make any outfit seem a dash cooler.

There is a veritable banquet of Maxi Slides to choose from, including different colours, prints (even animal prints to match the rest of the collection) and logos.

Jordss is a London-based DJ and radio presenter who clearly has an eye for a great sport-luxe look. Pairing trackies with Maxi Slides and a crop top is the ultimate move in effortlessness when you’re a busy woman with things to do, people to see and places to go. On the flip side, these could easily be worn poolside with a whimsical summer dress.
