Trust Me—This Is Where to Shop On the High Street If You’re Petite Like Me

While the average height for females in the United Kingdom is said to be 5’3″, it can certainly feel like clothing is not made with women of that stature in mind. From billowing sleeves to seemingly endless pant legs, dressing rooms can feel like a helpless place for shorter women where nothing ever fits quite the way it was intended.

I for one stand at the relatively tiny height of 5’0 and have struggled with finding clothes to fit my entire life. And while it’s been helpful to make regular visits to an expert tailor or embrace the frayed hem look, I’ve decided that it’s time to find a better way. Luckily, several retailers have heard the frustrations of petite women everywhere and have begun creating specialised lines designed for those with smaller proportions. From ASOS to Zalando, M&S to New Look, there are now more options than ever for those of us below 5’3″ and I for one couldn’t be happier about it.

These rolled-up jeans speak for themselves.  Thanks to Topshop’s Petite section, I now no longer have to take a pair of scissors to each pair of jeans I buy, nor do I have to hem each and every dress.  Marks & Spencer have made office-appropriate dressing easier thanks to their tailored trousers available in a shorter option, while Zalando has an extensive range of petite brands to cater to several styles and aesthetics.  Keep scrolling for the petite brands I’m shopping this spring, and say goodbye to your tailor for good.
