Unstoppable Mikaela Shiffrin on brink of history after 85th World Cup win

  • Shiffrin wins Spindleruv Mlyn slalom for ninth win in 14 races
  • US star can equal Stenmark’s all-time mark of 86 wins Sunday

Mikaela Shiffrin posted the fastest time over two runs at women’s World Cup slalom on Saturday, securing her 85th career victory and moving within one of the all-time record set by Swedish great Ingemar Stenmark in the 1980s.

The American star had shared the women’s record of 82 wins with former teammate Lindsey Vonn before triumphing at back-to-back giant slaloms in Italy this week.
