Watch Live: Canucks’ Jim Rutherford addresses Tanner Pearson injury review

Vancouver Canucks president of hockey operations Jim Rutherford will speak to reporters about the review of Tanner Pearson’s hand injury.

Earlier on Thursday, the Canucks announced Pearson had undergone another hand surgery – his second this season after a “setback in his recovery” – and would be sidelined for the rest of the 2022-23 campaign as a result. Pearson, 30, hasn’t played since suffering the hand injury on Nov. 9. Initial timelines for his recovery were set at four to six weeks, which would’ve meant a return in mid-December.

After hearing defenceman Quinn Hughes say that his teammate’s injury “wasn’t handled properly,” Rutherford said he spoke with general manager Patrik Allvin and coach Bruce Boudreau, and that both were also unaware there had been any concerns with Pearson’s treatment beyond the setbacks in his recovery.
