We're 99.9% Sure These Will Be the Most Popular Flat Shoes of Autumn

We may be in the middle of a warm snap right now, but believe it or not, autumn is creeping up on the horizon. So you can’t blame us for getting excited about the new season. With our minds firmly on all the exciting A/W 23 trends to come, there’s one shoe style in particular that has already piqued our interest after starting to crop up on the best dressed feet we know and has gone straight to the top of our autumn/winter wish list. All that and we’re not even at the end of September yet—a surefire sign of big things to come.

You’ll probably be unsurprised to hear that the shoes in question come from luxury, Olsen twins–owned label The Row. After all, their track record for creating the most coveted shoes is impressive to say the least. Lest we forget those zip-front boots, flatform flip-flops and ubiquitous fisherman sandals that remain on most-wanted lists years after their release. Fashion’s latest The Row obsession, however, comes in the form of a dainty ballet pump—basically cementing the return of the millennial flats, in case you were wondering. As with most Row pieces, their beauty is in their simplicity: They feature a barely there sole and buttery-soft leather in a range of muted colours, with a simple elastic strap over the top of the foot to give a Mary Jane–esque finish. Comfy and timeless—it’s a win-win.

The Row’s ballet flats have in fact been a fixture in its collections for a while now, but as experts in spotting when a cult buy is really gaining traction, we can almost certainly confirm that autumn is going to be the season you start seeing everyone wearing them. Queen of cool, minimalist style Kendall Jenner has been spotted in the classic black pair recently. And a little closer to home, Who What Wear columnist and all-round tastemaker Monikh owns the burgundy iteration. Fashion has spoken.

If history is to be learned from, these delicate flats will no doubt sell out the moment it becomes warm enough to wear them. For now, though, they’re miraculously still in stock in most sizes, and we’ve linked the various colours and some more of The Row’s best flats below. Keep scrolling to shop.
