Welcome to 10 Things to Buy, a monthly shopping list that helps you shop smarter by focusing on the 10 key items to add to your cart that month if your wardrobe is in need of a boost. As a Who What Wear editor for the past 12 years, I’ve spent many hours advising people on what to shop for during any given season, so you’re in good hands. Whether you’re shopping for cold weather, warm weather, a vacation, or a wedding, I’m here to offer up the most seasonally appropriate suggestions. Be sure to return at the start of each month for more.
The days just became a lot shorter, which means two of many things for us: The holidays are on the horizon, and it’s going to keep getting colder. Before the holiday shopping rush begins, early November is the perfect time to add a few pieces to your winter wardrobe. And if your goal is to look like a telltale fashion girl every time you step out the door, the pieces I selected as the ten things to buy this month will help you achieve it. They’re cool but not overly trendy. Keep scrolling to add them to your cart.
Printed Coat
From brocade to animal print to checked, there are a million printed coat options to shop right now, all of which are much more “winter 2026” than a solid-neutral-colored one. The best part is that even the most boring outfits look special with a cool printed coat.
Something Fur-Trimmed
It’s been a fur-trimmed fall, and you can guarantee that be the case this winter as well. Fur-trimmed dresses, skirts, shoes, sweaters and of course, jackets, are catching the attention of fashion girls this season. Prepare for compliments.
Cuffed Jeans
Jeans with a single wide cuff are shaping up to be the biggest denim trend of the season. It’s a significant change from the rolled cuffs of years past, and a far sleeker one at that.
Paisley Shawl
Paisley scarves have a bit of a reputation for being old-fashioned, but that’s what makes them cool, if you ask any 2026 fashion girl. They add opulence to an outfit, which is what everyone wants right now.
Soft-Leather Flat boots
Flat leather and suede boots with a glove-like fit are suddenly everywhere, and they’re selling out as quickly as they arrive. They’re as low-key as they are chic.
U-Neck Sweater
Hold the V-necks—U-neck sweaters are on the rise, and they’re even more alluring than the aforementioned V-necks. They add a soft, forward touch to an outfit.
Jacquard Dress
Mark my words: All the cool girls will be wearing jacquard dresses to holiday parties this winter, in keeping with the aforementioned opulent trend.
Purple Beanie
The royal purple trend shows no signs of fading, and one of the coolest (and functional) ways to wear it this winter is with a cozy pop-of-color beanie.
Sash Pants
Pants with a long scarf attached adds a dose of drama to an outfit (with minimal effort). Needless to say, sash pants are already a celebrity-favorite trend.
Elevated Sequins
Holiday occasions are starting up this month, so I wouldn’t wait until December to purchase something festive for them. My vote goes to elevated sequins, which were all over the F/W 26 runways.
