Hailey Bieber Wore This Major Sandal Trend in the Most Controversial of Ways

Hailey Bieber’s always-evolving style is fun to watch, isn’t it? The night before she wore the outfit we’re about to discuss, she was in a short, pink sparkly party dress and naked shoes. It was the polar opposite from what she stepped out in yesterday in NYC, but just as interesting, in its own way.

The outfit I’m here to talk about today was casual and cool, but not without mild controversy. Bieber wore a white cropped T-shirt with low-rise, long white baggy shorts (which are also a bit polarising…), but it was her footwear “styling” you’ll either love or hate. So, the sandal trend she wore was fisherman sandals, which have been the reigning “ugly” sandal style for the past year or so, and she opted to wear them with white ankle socks. It used to be the case that wearing socks with sandals was a major faux pas, but wearing socks with any shoe style has become the norm these days. So whether you agree with it or not, wearing socks with sandals is technically cool now.

If Bieber has inspired you to order a pair of fisherman sandals, I’ve shopped out some of my favourites below (which you can choose to wear with or without socks).

On Hailey Bieber: Bottega VenetaMedium Andiamo Intrecciato Leather Tote Bag (£3501); The Row Fisherman Sandals (£920); Khaite Bambi Belt (£350); Child of Wild Cleo Hoops in Gold (£31)

This white version is incredibly chic.

Such a unique pair.

The square toe is a nice touch.

So chic.

These won’t stick around for long.

These come in four colourways, but this cream hue is particularly elevated.

Take on the metallics trend too.

This high ankle version caught my eye.

These look seriously comfy.

You’d never guess these were from the high street.

The hard part is choosing which colour to go for.
