I Just Tried Chanel's New Foundation—And I Have Thoughts

There is no denying it, Chanel know how to do foundation. Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Ultra-Light Skin Perfecting Makeup SPF15 and Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Foundation are both incredible, but now comes a new foundation, the Chanel Les Beiges Water-Fresh Complexion Touch.

For me, foundation can make or break your whole makeup look, from a cakey mess to a ghastly oxidized finish, foundation is at the root of it all. One brand I have always been able to rely on is Chanel, and boy does it know how to create a great base product, and so when they released the Chanel Les Beiges Water Fresh Complexion Touch foundation, it went straight into my basket.

“The Les Beiges Water-fresh Complexion Touch sits somewhere between a foundation and a concealer. I pump the formula onto the back of my hand and break up the micro-droplet pigments using the brush that comes with it,” says Chanel make-up artist, Anna Payne. “I then use the formula to cover any redness around the t-zone, blending it outward towards the edges of the face. The formula melts into the skin and feels lightweight and nourishing what giving the perfect level of coverage.”

Before using Chanel Les Beiges Water-Fresh Complexion Touch foundation.

I am huge fan of the Les Beiges Water-Fresh Tint, but, as it is a sheer, lightweight formula, sometimes you need a little coverage. And this foundation—or should I say foundation, concealer and highlighter hybrid—delivers. It’s the water fresh tint but with extra coverage. The promises don’t stop there, though. Chanel propose that the foundation is a first of its kind versatile base product, that not only performs as a foundation but also a concealer, for pinpoint concealing, as well as offering enough coverage to even out the skin tone, as well as a hydrating, highlighting product that nourishes the skin and leaves you with a glowing fresh dewy finish. What more could you want from the foundation?

After using Chanel Les Beiges Water-Fresh Complexion Touch foundation. The foundation is formulated with concentrated micro-droplet pigments, which bursts on contact with the skin. When it said three times extra coverage, Chanel was not lying. One pump is enough to cover my whole face. Even with the fuller coverage, the formula remains incredibly lightweight, it feels super light and refreshing on the skin, which is down to the antioxidant-enriched ingredients including jasmine extracts and emollient-rich ingredients such as tamarind extract. It is definitely more than just a foundation. I found that this foundation applies best with  a foundation brush, as you really want to blend all those beads of pigment. You’re left with this gorgeous, light, natural-like finish.I am a big fan. Chanel can do no wrong when it comes to foundations.

To set in all your hard work, nothing works harder than this Charlotte Tilbury setting spray.

For a wash of the most gorgeous subtle coral toned shadow.

The only summer blush you need, the most glorious blush to have ever graced my cheeks. It’s the perfect Barbie pink shade, and I’m obsessed.

Taking the hard work out of brows, this eyebrow gel tames brows and sets them in place without leaving brows crispy.

You can’t have a Chanel round up without the Chanel Les Beiges Bronzing Cream, it’s iconic and for all the best reasons. It has a unique cream-gel formula that blends seamlessly into the skin, whether you want to contour or achieve a bronzed sun kissed glow. I’m never without it in my makeup bag.

Ok so this concealer is technically for men but that’s not going to stop us. It’s the perfect fuss-free, skin-like concealer I’ve tried, and I’ve tried a lot of concealers. Super creamy, it glides onto the skin and I like to pat it into the skin using my fingers for a seamless natural finish. I’m obsessed!

Another Chanel classic, the iconic rouge allure lipsticks. The top tier of lipsticks, this was one of my first designer lipstick purchases. Everything about it is stunning; the packaging, the accurately designed bullet for precise application, the colour pay-off, the comfortability—I could go on but you get it.

It’s all in the name. I don’t understand the how, yet I can attest to the magic of this powder. It truly gives a healthy glow. Super finely milled, it’s incredibly lightweight and never cakey or over done. Just the right amount of that healthy glow.

The new wave of highlighter, Baume Essentiel is of the school of thought that highlighting products don;t need sparkly particles. This is a gorgeous glitter-free highlighting balm that melts into the skin to give the most gorgeous lit-from-within glow.

I can only describe this as natural flushed cheeks in a compact. The powder is so incredibly finely milled, the colour appears as if it were coming from within. It’s absolutely beautiful on the skin, and the colour range is stunning. 99% of the time I reach for the shade Orchid Rose, a unique golden pink coral shade.

Lip gloss is definitely having a moment and if you are looking to  splurge on the best of the best, they don’t come better than Chanel’s offering. A high-shine gloss that’s not sticky and sits comfortably on the lips.

I adore a wash of eyeshadow, it’s the best for busy day and rushed mornings. Added bonus, this liquid eyeshadow has an 8-hour lasting power, though it still remains super easy to work with, one swipe and blend and you’re good to go.

Finding a really good matte liquid lipstick is like hitting the jackpot. The best ones don’t dry your lips, won’t crack or stain your lips for days. The Chanel Rouge Allure Ink Fusion liquid lipsticks just hits the spot. They say it’s like second skin, it feels feather-light on the lips and it is developed with oils to keep your lips hydrated—it’s perfect.
