The Summer Outfits That Are Perfect for Your Afternoon Walk

Now that the weather is really starting to brighten up and we’re allowed to head out for walks more than once a day (who knew a second stroll could make us so excited?), we’re starting to ever so slightly broaden our outfit horizons. Naturally, if you’re still feeling your best in your trackies and tanks, then you go, Glen Coco, but if, like me, you’re craving a little sartorial diversity, you’ve come to the right place.

Let’s be realistic: We’re hardly going to sashay out the front door in satin gowns and towering heels, but let’s start by making the most of the rising mercury and play around with some feel-good outfit combos. For me, this means printed dresses, retro shorts-and-tee pairings, utility jumpsuits and hints of lilac. Take this as a chance to dig up some old summer faves from your wardrobe and give them a 2020 refresh. Scroll down to see and shop the walk-ready outfits we’re going to try this week.

Style Notes: Mix up your favourite summer shift dress by layering it over a white tee. Mango’s collared iteration is perfect for adding interest.

Style Notes: Sporty shorts are the unlikely basic fashion girls are embracing right now. Make like Camille and channel ’90s appeal with a logo tee and New Balance sneakers.

Style Notes: Add some colour to your day with a floral midi dress (Dodo Bar Or has some great options) and finish with chunky sandals.

Style Notes: A boilersuit is never a bad idea IMO. Perfect for both lounging on the sofa and popping out for an afternoon walk, this is the easiest (and speediest) way to look pulled-together.

Style Notes: If you’re not mad about the crop-top trend, take a leaf from Enis’s book and pair one with high-waisted, wide-leg jeans. Flattering and cool.
